2019 IHA Quality Advocacy Showcase - April 3

IHA’s Quality Advocacy Showcase is an opportunity to share with legislators how Illinois hospitals and health systems are improving care across the state. The event is central to IHA’s state advocacy efforts. The showcase, in its fourth year, spotlights the role of Illinois’ hospital community as committed stewards of patient care working hard to improve outcomes.

IHA will produce one 30-by-42-inch poster per facility for the event at no cost to members. Earlier this year, 91 hospitals and health systems participated in our 2018 showcase, creating tremendous energy in the Capitol along with our impressive display of posters. Join us this year so we can put on an even bigger event.

Choose one of the following categories for your project submission:

  • Behavioral Health
  • Care Coordination
  • Infection Prevention
  • Opioid Stewardship — new for 2019
  • Patient Safety
  • Social Determinants of Health — new for 2019
  • Workplace Safety

We’ve also added an “Other” category for 2019 if your chosen project does not fit into any category above.

Understanding Recent Changes to the Physician Certification Statement for Non-Emergency Transfers

Hospitals are required to submit Physician Certification Statements (PCS) to justify the use of non-emergency transfers for patients who require special transport. Ambulance providers often receive incorrect or incomplete PCS from hospitals, resulting in denial of Medicaid claims. Effective Feb. 1, the Illinois Department of Healthcare and Family Services updated the PCS form that a hospital must complete and provide to an ambulance provider prior to transport of a non-emergency patient. Hospital responsibilities for non-emergency transfers have also changed.

IHA is hosting a one-hour webinar focusing on the recent changes. A firm grasp on the updated PCS is critical to reducing extra administrative work and ensuring timely care.
