EMResource to Submit Data to HHS

April 23, 2020

Starting Friday, April 24, the EMResource vendor Juvare will submit the required U.S. Dept. of Health and Human Services (HHS) data on behalf of all the Illinois hospitals. EMResource will now include addition elements that will meet the requirements outlined in Vice President Mike Pence’s letter in March, followed by HHS Secretary Alex Azar on April 10. In both letters, hospitals were required to submit a range of information related to COVID-19 through the National Healthcare Safety Network. The additional EMResource fields will need to be updated daily by 10 a.m.

The Illinois Dept. of Public Health (IDPH) will also submit the required test information on behalf of hospital and reference laboratories that have implemented electronic laboratory reporting (ELR). Entities without ELR in production to IDPH should utilize the hospital-secure form that was sent to hospitals to report to into the HHS Protect System. Hospitals that have LabCorp, BioReference Laboratories, Quest Diagnostics, Mayo Clinic Laboratories, ARUP Laboratories, and Sonic Healthcare do not have to use the HHS-protected system.
